Conspicuous Consumption

I've been known to pursue a really special car for some distance to bring home a good shot, but sometimes the picture is just there, waiting for a camera. This day I was driving home from the grocery store and there they were. A Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe in front of a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with almost perfectly matching paint! I zigged into a parking spot like on the old TV shows and dodged traffic to get a few quick grabs. Funny thing is, people stopped and watched me, like paparazzi shooting someone famous. I stood in the middle of Las Olas traffic snapping away while drivers waited and waved on the way past. They know good art when they see it.

Miami Winter Music Conference Cars

I spent last week at the Miami Winter Music Conference on South Beach. I can always depend on some good Carspotting on SoBe. Featured today are a Ferrari 430 Modena and Spyder, A Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, an Audi R8 and an Aston Martin DB9.

Convenient Cobra

Some Carspotting days are easier than others. This fellow parked his Cobra Side-oiler right next to my Honda S2K in front of my door. My work here is done.

Porsche Carrera GT

Sometimes, Carspotting just happens. I was being driven by a friend in a Ford Explorer who spotted this Fayenne Yellow Carrera GT closing FAST! She pulled a couple, ahem, daring maneuvers to get me in position for a few quick grabs before it disappeared as if it were just launched off an aircraft carrier. How's 0-125 in 9.9 seconds sound?

Porsche 959

Of all the Porsche's I ever carspotted, this is is the rarest of the rare. The Porsche 959 was not street legal in the U.S. before 1999, even though it was last made in 1993. It was probably the safest car Porsche ever built to that point, but they refused to crash-test one due to it's rarity and expense. Porsche built eight 959s assembled from spare parts from the inventory at the manufacturing site. All eight were 'Komfort'-versions: four in red and four in silver. These cars were much more expensive than the earlier ones and are by far the most sought-after 959s. The later cars also featured a newly developed speed-sensitive damper system. The cars were sold to selected collectors after being driven by works personnel. I believe, is one of those cars.

Mosler MT900S

I caught this Mosler MT900S right in front of my house while they were shooting a video featuring DJ Khaled and Usher. I caught them right before this scene and grabbed a few shots and then positioned myself for the pass with the Ninja motorcycle guys. Carspotting heaven!

Rothstein's Bugatti

Infamous attorney Scott Rothstein, whose Billion dollas Pnzi scheme collapsed, was caught by me just a week before his arrest by myself and a very brave passenger. The file photo from the local media shows it being taken away. I hope you enjoyed the ride.

Have Murcielago

The driver of this Lamborghini Murcielago was seeing a young lady across the street from me for a few weeks. He was my alarm clock at 6:00 a.m. Music to my ears!

Stealth Fighter

Carspotting Tuesday: These guys only come out at night. I can hear them street racing at 4:00 am. Ferrari 430 Modena in stealth fighter mode. The only thing on this car that isn't blacked out is the yellow brake calipers.
